The Carolinian Europe

The Carolinian Europe was one of the most important age in history. It had the combination of three different culture classical, Germanic, and Islamic. The Carolinian Europe was ruled by a Germanic king named Charlemagne who was not like the other Germanic kings. He was able to blend three cultures because he is catholic, German, and very civilized which gained the trust of many people. Charlemagne was also portrayed as godlike because not only he is a king but also a warrior. The blending of the three cultures affected us today in many ways.

The explosion of islam

Today the spread of Islam affected us in many ways Culturally, spiritually, and politically. They affect us culturally because the Koran their bible was not translated so their language started spreading. It made people understand the Muslim language therefore making Muslim a more recognizable religion. Muslim right now is the second most significant religion next to christianity.

Muslim is a lot like christianity they only believe in one god and they also have their own Bible, The Koran. It affects us spiritually because Muhammad says an angel spoke to him and gave him the new bible which change what most people believed. For them the Koran is like the third Bible of the old testament and new testament.

And lastly it affects us politically because of their very social conversations. It helped the politics settle things on court which is much more civilized and proper. So Islam spreading was a very important part of history.

Early Western Christiandom

The hand-out is about the development of Christianity on the western part of Europe. It is very much different to the already established Byzantine tradition. Mostly, it discussed about the situations in the countries now ruled by various Germanic tribes. According to the hand-out, most of them gave up Arianism and began adopting the Byzantine tradition of Christianity.

The hand-out also discussed the concept of  Monasticism. From it, I finally fully understood something that I already knew. The word "monk" is from from "monasticism". Before, I thought that monks were mainly of Buddhist or Hindu religion.

I learned that there are indeed Christian monks. St. Benedict was a great driving force in the development of Christian monasticism.

Finally, the hand-out discussed the conversion of England to Christianity. St.Augustine lead momentous event. This has a great significant.

Even today it has a significant effect on us. The western Christian nations were the ones that explored the globe. Spain is one them. Spain introduced Christianity to the Philippines and majority of its population are still Christians.

If it weren't for the western nation of Europe converting to Christianity, the Philippines might be an Islamic nation at present.
