The Carolinian Europe

The Carolinian Europe was one of the most important age in history. It had the combination of three different culture classical, Germanic, and Islamic. The Carolinian Europe was ruled by a Germanic king named Charlemagne who was not like the other Germanic kings. He was able to blend three cultures because he is catholic, German, and very civilized which gained the trust of many people. Charlemagne was also portrayed as godlike because not only he is a king but also a warrior. The blending of the three cultures affected us today in many ways.

The Carolinian Europe was one of the most advance civilization during this time. sorry sir this is all i could post now.

The explosion of islam

Today the spread of Islam affected us in many ways Culturally, spiritually, and politically. They affect us culturally because the Koran their bible was not translated so their language started spreading. It made people understand the Muslim language therefore making Muslim a more recognizable religion. Muslim right now is the second most significant religion next to christianity.

Muslim is a lot like christianity they only believe in one god and they also have their own Bible, The Koran. It affects us spiritually because Muhammad says an angel spoke to him and gave him the new bible which change what most people believed. For them the Koran is like the third Bible of the old testament and new testament.

And lastly it affects us politically because of their very social conversations. It helped the politics settle things on court which is much more civilized and proper. So Islam spreading was a very important part of history.

Early Western Christiandom

The hand-out is about the development of Christianity on the western part of Europe. It is very much different to the already established Byzantine tradition. Mostly, it discussed about the situations in the countries now ruled by various Germanic tribes. According to the hand-out, most of them gave up Arianism and began adopting the Byzantine tradition of Christianity.

The hand-out also discussed the concept of  Monasticism. From it, I finally fully understood something that I already knew. The word "monk" is from from "monasticism". Before, I thought that monks were mainly of Buddhist or Hindu religion.

I learned that there are indeed Christian monks. St. Benedict was a great driving force in the development of Christian monasticism.

Finally, the hand-out discussed the conversion of England to Christianity. St.Augustine lead momentous event. This has a great significant.

Even today it has a significant effect on us. The western Christian nations were the ones that explored the globe. Spain is one them. Spain introduced Christianity to the Philippines and majority of its population are still Christians.

If it weren't for the western nation of Europe converting to Christianity, the Philippines might be an Islamic nation at present.

Brizantine

From the handout, after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, its legacy survived in the east in the form of the Byzantine Empire. It owes its existence by following Roman government, Christian religion and Greco-Roman culture as its pillar. It is located in what we now called as the country of Turkey. Unlike its brother in the west, the Byzantine Empire was not in the immediate danger of being invaded by barbarian hordes like the different Germanic tribes.

The Byzantine Empire was strategically located on a spot where it can be defended on all sides. It walls endured for centuries against attacks from different forces that were not barbarian like the Arabs in particular. The most famous emperor was Justinian who was a very controversial figure. He ruled well with the aid of his wife but he also made some questionable deeds spending lavishly while the supplies of the empire were becoming limited. The greatest legacy left by the Byzantine Empire was it paved the way for the conversion of Russia into Christianity. When the capital Constantinople was destroyed, some Russian princes wanted to convert Moscow into the “Third Rome” in honor of Constantinople being “The Second Rome”. The empire met its end when it was bombarded by the Seljuk Turks and was superseded by the Ottoman Empire.

The Fall Of The Western Rome Empire

It all started with the split of the Roman empire. The Roman empire split after the death of the emperor and his two sons wanted to take over the Roman empire but of coarse there can only be one emperor so they split the Roman empire rather than killing each other. When they split the western side was more poor and less powerful than the east and they mostly relied on taxes and since they were poor they couldn't afford the taxes so they fled Rome and the only ones who stayed where the rich people.

When the western Rome empire started to weaken they were invaded by Germanic tribes and that was the end of the western empire. There were also a lot of other reasons for The decline and fall of Rome such as sexual orgies, climatic changes, bad ecological habits, and Christianity.Although there are a lot of reasons for the decline and fall of Rome I think the most reasonable and explainable is the split of the Roman empire.

And that is all for now.

Rome Turns Christian

According to the handout, when the early Christians came to Rome, Rome combined their pagan religion and Christianity to make the roman Catholic. They combined there religion because of the attractive character Jesus himself and the fact that they welcome women and slaves, also because of Christianity's appealing ethical system of love, forgiveness, and service to others even the emperor Constantine himself converted into a christian. There was also number of conversions to christianity during that time.

In the Fourth-century it was the time when Arianism was the most powerful Christian heresy.Arianism is very similar to Christianity, it still teaches Christ's teaching but denies about his "Full divinity"(meaning Jesus and god are not one). By the end of the fourth century christianity won the empire but the old heresies still lived on and more new one have arisen.Arianism still lingered because there were people who were converted by Arian missionaries sometime in the middle of the fourth century.

And that is all for now
